The mission of the Urban Planning, Environment, and Economic Development Department is to oversee the planning and harmonious management of the territory with a view to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Working to implement the urban plan, this department analyzes the planning or development projects, especially in terms of architectural control, urban renewal, and the protection of rivers, lakes, and streams.

The Urban Planning, Environment, and Economic Development Department also ensures that municipal and urban planning by-laws are enforced and respected, particularly with respect to zoning, construction, signage, allotment, and minor variances.

It is also in charge of the inspections required for by-law control and enforcement and intervenes in complaints related to compliance with regulations.
