With its welcoming nature, Cantley was officially constituted on January 1, 1989. The area is marked by a landscape of wooded hills and basins. The municipality has nearly 11 000 citizens. New data presented in the Gazette officielle du Québec, December 27, 2017, Year 149, No. 52, puts the population of Cantley at 11 109 people.

2016 Census

In 2016, the counted population of Cantley was 10 699, which represents an increase of 8.2% since 2011. By comparison, the provincial average was 3.3% and the national average was 5.0%.

The area of Cantley is 128.36 square kilometres and the population density was 83.4 people per square kilometre.

In 2016, there were 3,768 occupied private dwellings in Cantley, which represents a change of 10.2% compared to 2011.

The land area is 134.1 square kilometres and the population density is 76.1 people per square kilometre. By comparison, the provincial area is 1 356 547.02 square kilometres and the population density is 5.8 people per square kilometre.

In 2011, Cantley was made up of 3 419 private dwellings occupied by usual residents. The change in the level of private dwellings occupied by usual residents from 2006 was 24.4%. For all of Canada, the number of private dwellings occupied by usual residents increased by 7.1%.
