The cornerstone of municipal planning
The municipal administration ensures the preparation of the budget for each fiscal year during the months of October and November. Together, councillors have the task of specifying the main focuses of the budget, defining its priorities, and making important decisions in order to meet the needs expressed by the citizens. The budget is adopted every year at a special council session generally held in mid-December.
This practice is the cornerstone of municipal planning, because it makes it possible to determine the services offered to the citizens and estimate their costs, predict sources of funding, and calculate the tax rates to be levied on the taxpayers.
